Maskros Makeover
I tend to go big when it comes to lighting. It's fun for every room to have a statement piece and in my keeping room this fixture is definitely the star of the show. The problem with "big" is that it can sometimes be costly. In this case, I think I found a fun solution without breaking the bank. This is the Ikea PS Makros 32" spray painted gold. I love love spray paint and as you will see if you continue to follow me that I also love gold. I have tried a lot of different gold spray paints and hands down Ace's Brite Gold Interior Metallic spray paint is the best! I use it all the time.
This project is a little time consuming, but the result is well worth your effort!
Supplies : fixture $99
spray paint $5.99
gold chain and cover - I spent $0 on this because I just painted the one that was there
cost of installation will vary
You will spray all of the flowers and the center section before you put it together. In the end, you will have a statement fixture that adds a little bit of drama to your decor without a lot of investment.
Other ideas for this fixture: Think how festive and pretty it would be to hang 3 (2 in the smaller size) in a foyer in varying heights. While the fixture is lovely in the original white color, a coat of metallic paint or even black paint adds quite a bit of drama. It would also be adorable painted a soft pastel for a nursery or powder room.
Added bonus: The flowers cast fun shadows at night.
