Easy Garden Trellis
Everything is better with a little treillage!! This is definitely one of my mottos. In the case above, not only does it add a little bit of charm and architectural interest to an otherwise stark wall, it also provides a functional backdrop for these beautiful Sally Holmes climbing roses. This has been one of my favorite projects. It is so easy, and compared to a custom trellis it is very economical. It is simply made of inexpensive chippendale screen door inserts, reimagined and attached together, painted and hung with L-brackets. Piece of cake!
This is another version of the same project. Notice the L- brackets and how they are attached to the brick. Ultimately, the brackets will be painted the same color as the brick. I love that the trellis is painted the exterior color. This tone on tone technique adds both architechual interest and character while allowing the New Dawn climbing rose to be the star of the show! Next season these will be awash in beautiful pale pink roses!!
The next three images were taken at the end of that first season - just a few months after planting. The progress is amazing!
I Love how this turned out! I will definitely post a more progress pictures in the spring.
